XPERT SCREENS
Protecting Your Investment
Frequently asked questions
No, our retractable screens do not use zippers for end retention. Instead, we use a thermally fused solid end retention bead developed by Fenetex, which eliminates the weaknesses of sewn or glued zippers. Our screens are designed to withstand inclement weather without binding, kinking, or pulling out of the tracks. For severe weather protection, we recommend our retractable hurricane screens.
Yes, all our fabric shutters are certified storm shutters, tested to meet both Florida Building Code and International Building Code standards. This includes rigorous tests like TAS 201, TAS 202, TAS 203, ASTM E330, ASTM E1886, and ASTM E1996. Our shutters are built to withstand the toughest conditions.
If your home is outside the HVHZ (Miami-Dade and Broward Counties), there's no required setback between the hurricane fabric and the window. The fabric shutter's job is to protect the opening, not necessarily the glass. Even if the glass breaks from a heavy impact, your home remains protected from water intrusion and pressurization.
